Images of God

We’ve been in exile for such a long time
That You have become to us as a god that is no god.
False images–carved out of wood and stone,
Made with human hands from human imagination.
A god who gets angry when we step out of line;
A god who laughs at us when we fall down;
A god who turns a blind eye to our sins,
And ignores our cries when we call out to him;
A god with no hands that can’t reach out to save;
A god who allows his people to become slaves.
But these are all the images of man, each and every one.
For Your true image, we must look to Your Son.
“If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father,
For He and I are One.”

~inspired by Deut. 4:27-31, Psalm 115, John 14:9-11
